COURSE INFORMATION

 

 The Level 4 Diploma in Casework Supervision is run a weekend 

 a month for 6 month's on the following weekends,

  • Dates to be arranged

 The course includes 30 hours of supervision

 practice. Successful candidates will be qualified to

 work as a supervisor of counsellors in private practice or within an

COURSE AIMS

 

  • To understand the BACP code of ethics and practice for supervisors and case workers.

 

 

  • To raise awareness of ethical, moral and legal issues.

 

 

  • To achieve understanding of issues of diversity that may be faced by the Supervisor.

 

 

  • To raise awareness of power issues within the supervisory relationship.

 

 

  • To provide a developmental model of supervision.

 

  • To raise awareness of group dynamics within the supervision of small groups

 

  • To achieve a minimum 30 hours of casework supervision practice

 

 

 

 COURSE CONTENT

 

 The course is in modular design.

 

 MODULE 1:

 

  • Informal and formal supervision

  • Contracts

  • Boundaries

  • Structure of the sessions

  • Supervisees' anxieties and fears about supervision

 

 MODULE 2:

 

  • B.A.C.P.'s Ethical Framework for counsellors and supervisors

  • Ethical Issues

  • Moral Issues

  • Confidentiality and the law

 

 MODULE 3:

 

  • Styles of working as a counsellor and supervisor, using learning styles and NLP

  • Adapting a style to complement the supervisee's way of working with the clients

 

 MODULE 4:

 

  • Developmental model of supervision

  • Developmental model of supervisees

 

 MODULE 5:

 

  • The process of supervision

  • Mirroring in supervision

  • Transference and counter transference

 

 MODULE 6:

 

  • Supervision in context

  • Supervision and sexual orientation

  • Supervision and racial issues

  • Supervision and gender issues

  • Supervision and issues of disability

 MODULE 7:

 

  • Group dynamics

  • Supervising small groups

  • Case discussions with a larger group

  • Non managerial supervision

 

 MODULE 8:

 

  • Assessment of supervisees

  • Writing reports

 

 

 ASSESSMENT

 

There is no formal examination for this qualification however, each student should be supervising at least two supervisees on an on-going basis. As a minimum they will provide two supervisees with 9 supervision sessions each, of one and a half hours duration, a total of 27 hours over a period of 12 months. 80% attendance is required on the course. Three pieces of coursework are required to be completed; a taped supervision session with 2000 word critique, a written report on one of the supervisees and an essay of 2500 word on supervision and putting theory into practice.

 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  •  Qualified to minimum Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic counselling.

  • To be working with clients

  • Receiving counselling supervision 

  • Adheres to BACP ethical framework

  • 100 post qualification counselling hours

Fee: £650 if paid in full or £700  if paying by monthly instalments
